Hermann Rootstock

Price range: $385.00 through $1,285.00

The imagined scene is a nineteenth century Hermann, Missouri harvest, with a nod to the magnificent draft horses common to the area, with an allusion to the thriving propagation of Hermann vineyard rootstock. Hermann vineyard root grafts famously revived the French and German vineyards decimated by the grape phylloxera virus in the late nineteenth century. Hermann Jaeger, working with Missouri State entomologist George Hussman of Hermann, Missouri produced aphid-resistant American vine rootstock that could be grafted to the French vinifera vines, reviving the European wine industry.
