Four Horsemen

THE FOUR HORSEMEN OF WICHITA – 1871 As told by James R. Mead: No time was to be lost; in haste we saddled our fleet footed, long-winded mustangs, buckled on spurs and revolvers – our saddle pockets provided by friends with other things considered necessary – and mounting, we rode forth into the placid waters of the river on a mission which might decide for weal or woe the destiny of a city. The mural is permanently installed in the rotunda of the Carnegie Library, Wichita, KS.
